Making FreeCAD Better

Our mission is to make FreeCAD the best CAD software ever. But to do so we must be able to make a living. That’s where AstoCAD comes into play.

AstoCAD is a polished version of FreeCAD, with a cleaner interface and additional features that are not yet in FreeCAD.

AstoCAD is a ‘soft-fork’ of FreeCAD. By soft we mean that AstoCAD is not really forking from FreeCAD. Instead it is always on top of FreeCAD. We improve the user interface and build new features on top of the latest version of FreeCAD. AstoCAD stays one step ahead, so that you guys are interested into supporting us, while we still ultimately bring all our new features to FreeCAD.

By taking the AstoCAD membership, you’re the one making all of it possible.

Our roadmap :

• Reducing frustration: Fixing annoying bugs in Sketcher, Assembly and PartDesign.
• Assembly: Missing features, such as array or fasteners tools.
• Sketcher: Make the polyline tool awesome.
• TechDraw: Streamlining the UI. Some work has been done already, but the workbench is still pretty cluttered.
• PartDesign: Improve the array tools.
• MBD (MultiBodyDynamics): Integrate MBD capability to the Assembly workbench.
• FEM: Streamlining the UI. We have not touched things in there yet, but it looks like a lot of work is necessary.
