The build for Mac cannot be launched.

The mac builds are not signed yet. Users need to manually approve it in System Settings → Privacy & Security.

On top of that ARM builds have a upstream problem and so the unsigned builds give the error :

“AstoCAD is damaged and can’t be opened. You should move it to the bin.”

There is a workaround for this issue, that is to run:
xattr -cr /Applications/AstoCAD.app

I will attempt to fix this by having the builds signed as soon as possible.

I got billed at day 1 then again in 1 month?

This concern those who subscribed before the ~17th of february.

Paypal woocommerce plugin has a bug that made the trial month cost as much as the annual subscription.

I contacted the paypal customer service to tell them about this and ask them to cancel all of that so that they refund the fees. They should give me an answer by next week. In all cases you’ll get refunded of course.

The download fails, I tried 10 times !

This was fixed. Please try again now. If you have some similar issue please open a ticket on the tracker.

I cannot drag the window with the custom title bar ?

The custom title bar can now be moved as expected by click and drag on linux and mac on the build AstoCAD_40464.

—— Permanent FAQ ——-

Who is behind AstoCAD. and what is their relation to FreeCAD?

AstoCAD was founded by Pierre-Louis Boyer (PaddleStroke), a long-time contributor to FreeCAD, developer of the Assembly workbench, and the most active developer of the Sketcher workbench.

Will you contribute your changes in AstoCAD back to FreeCAD?

Yes. Our mission is to improve FreeCAD to make it the best CAD software ever. But to do so we must be able to make a living. That’s where AstoCAD comes into play.

AstoCAD is a ‘soft-fork’ of FreeCAD. By soft we mean that AstoCAD is not really forking from FreeCAD. Instead it is always on top of FreeCAD. We build new features on top of the latest version of FreeCAD’s main repository. And after some time, we push our new features into FreeCAD main. Our idea is to keep AstoCAD one step ahead, so that you guys are interested into supporting us, while still ultimately bringing all our new features into FreeCAD.

Is AstoCAD free and open source ?

AstoCAD is totally open source, the same as FreeCAD. However we do not distribute builds freely: they are available only to members. By taking the membership, you support us, which enable us to make more cool stuff that will ultimately merge into FreeCAD.

Where can I report an issue ?

AstoCAD being build on top of FreeCAD, to avoid duplicating many issues, you have to determine if the issue you’re having is specific to AstoCAD or if it is a FreeCAD issue.

  • If the issue is specific to AstoCAD (it does not happen on FreeCAD weekly build) then you can open the issue on our tracker.
  • If the issue is a FreeCAD issue, please open the issue on FreeCAD’s tracker.
  • If the issue is a FreeCAD issue, but you have the premium membership and want it fixed, please open an issue on our tracker and link to the original FreeCAD issue.

For an issue with your account, subscription or such, you can reach by email at hello@astocad.com

Can you do custom development ?

Yes, please reach out at hello at astocad.com.
